Derek Robinett is the founder of the firm. After serving in the Marine Corps, Derek received his undergraduate degree from Wayland Baptist University, and his MBA from University of Texas at San Antonio. Derek is a licensed CPA in the state of Texas, and holds the PFS (Personal Financial Specialist) designation as well as the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter.
Since beginning his career in financial services in 2005, Derek has worked in a variety of roles. He began as personal banker with JP Morgan, and as an Investment Advisor Representative Morgan Stanley. After the “Great Recession” in 2008, Derek left the investment advisory world and began his career in tax planning and compliance.
Derek’s experience as a public accountant includes tax compliance for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and working as the manager for State and Local Tax at Basic Energy Services. Most recently, he worked as Senior Tax Accountant at a local CPA firm, where he oversaw the planning and preparation of returns for over one hundred different clients, including individual, business, and trust tax returns.
Derek currently serves as Vice-President of the Midland-Odessa Business Estate Council, as Assistant Treasurer for Fannin Terrace Baptist Church, and on the Board of Directors for the Permian Basin CPA Chapter. He is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants and the CFA Institute.
